EXECUTIVE TEAM

Matt Cantrell

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

OSU finance and marketing graduate with nearly a decade at ONEOK spanning the trade floor and M&A. Matt founded Activ Energy after years of conviction that nanoparticle technology would fundamentally change how oil and gas is produced from existing reservoirs and built the company to prove it.

Eddie Aboussie

VP OF STRATEGIC ACCOUNTS

University of Texas football Alum; Banking, capital markets, and tech sales veteran who founded 628 Capital before partnering with Matt Cantrell to help launch Activ Energy in January 2025. He focuses on sales, deal structuring, and company strategy, leveraging a wide network of investor and operator relationships.

Joseph Aboussie

VP OF SALES

Sales leader with experience spanning energy, software, commercial real estate, and entrepreneurship. Prior to Activ, held sales roles at GridPoint and The QT Group and built and operated a property management company. Established Activ’s sales infrastructure, creating the processes, accountability, and systems that support growth.

Blake Gudgel

CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER

Blake is a 20+ year veteran commercializing hard technology across defense, biotech, and material science. He leads commercial strategy, partnerships, and capital structuring. Blake is focused on sequencing priorities to accelerate Activ’s path to scale.

Zac Lindsey

CHIEF LEGAL & CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Zac Lindsey is Chief Legal & Corporate Development Officer for Activ, where he leads legal strategy, corporate development, IP, commercial risk, and acquisition initiatives. He has practiced law since 2008, with experience spanning litigation, corporate transactions, executive advisory work, and service as Chief Counsel for a midstream operator. Zac earned his law degree from the University of Michigan and has been involved with Activ from its earliest formation stages through fundraising, strategic partnerships, and commercialization.

Jon Schroeder

CHIEF INTELLIGENCE OFFICER 

COO of Ribbow Media Group, a data-driven media-buying firm where he has helped direct over $300M in media spend and audited billions more. At ActivEnergy, he’s building the analytics infrastructure that makes Activ Energy’s production uplift auditable, so operators can make program-level decisions from the data.

Dustin Curzon

CHIEF OF STAFF

Serial entrepreneur and operator with a track record of building companies from zero to one. Dustin joined Activ Energy to help scale the organization through people-centered systems, AI-driven operations, and a leadership team he believes in fully.

Justin LeBeau

VP OF FINANCE

Economics and public policy graduate from the University of Oklahoma with a background spanning municipal planning, entrepreneurship, and mortgage finance. He personally invested in Activ before joining, and now drives financial operations and strategic advisory. Justin brings clarity to capital allocation and company-wide decision-making.

Yusra Ahmad

VP OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT 

Yusra joined Nissan Chemical in 2016 as a founding research scientist and holds various nanoActiv® patents. Her role uniquely spans product development, customer education and well design/formulation work; the intersection of technical and commercial. Yusra holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University and a Master’s in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

SALES & OPERATIONS

The team responsible for getting nanoActiv® into the right wells and running deployments to operator-grade standards.

Alex Travelstead

VP OF ENGINEERING & OPERATIONS 

Third-generation petroleum engineer with extensive experience both as an operator and with service providers across the oil and gas industry, including serving as Director of Operations over the Permian at Select Water Solutions. Alex oversees job design, pricing, and operations. Alex joined full-time after six months of independently stress-testing Activ Energy’s data as a consultant.

Charlie Welch

INTEGRATOR 

Charlie Welch is an oil and gas executive with more than 25 years of experience building and growing energy service companies. He helped scale a privately held energy services business from $9 million to $54 million in revenue and drove 35% revenue growth at Trinity Environmental Services through strategic acquisitions and business development. Charlie brings deep operator relationships across the Eagle Ford, Permian Basin, and Gulf Coast, along with extensive expertise in regulatory affairs, environmental services, and operations.

Matt Biscoe

VP OF EOR & MIDCON

With more than 20 years of operational and sales experience in drilling, completions, and production, Matt brings deep industry expertise to the Activ Energy team. His career spans leadership roles with industry-recognized companies, including Weatherford, KLX, and Bosque Systems, giving him a broad perspective on the full lifecycle of well operations. In his current role, he leads sales and business development efforts focused on enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and new completions activity across the Midcontinent and beyond. He holds an MBA from Liberty University.

Randall Ellis

SALES EXECUTIVE 

Born and raised in the oil patch, and he’s spent more than 25 years building his expertise in the field. His experience spans oilfield surveying, the evolution of drilling technology, and played a key role in a startup later acquired by Select Water Solutions. Today, he draws on those deep Operator relationships to connect nanoActive® with the right decision makers.

Will Smith

DIRECTOR • CEO, NISSAN CHEMICAL AMERICA

As President of Nissan Chemical America Corporation, William (Will) Smith oversees its financial and strategic direction. Further he has led the company’s expansion into specialized nanotechnology products and the development of nanoActiv®.

Richard Spears

DIRECTOR 

VP of Spears & Associates, a Tulsa advisory firm serving 500 corporate clients, including Saudi Aramco, SLB, and Fidelity Investments. Saudi Aramco, ExxonMobil, and Shell. With 20+ years of experience investing in and sitting on the governance boards of 17 private oilfield service companies. Richard joined Activ Energy’s board after independently validating the nanoparticle production data and lending institutional credibility to operator conversations.

John Curzon

DIRECTOR & ADVISOR

Forbes-recognized CPA and Founding Partner of CCK Strategies, a Top 300 US Firm with a global Client base. Appointed to the Oklahoma Accountancy Board, serving as Chair for 26-27, and served as Board Chair for multiple community organizations. With his experience and credentials in leadership, business valuation and mergers and acquisitions, John provides board-level oversight and executive advisory across finance, tax and accounting structure, M&A and strategic planning.

Khaleel Ahmed

EXECUTIVE & MARKETING ADVISOR

5+ year 3M executive who grew the Post-it brand to $2.5 billion and authored the original 2016 business plan to commercialize nanoActiv®. Khaleel bridges Nissan Chemical and Activ Energy leadership on brand strategy, growth, and corporate development.

Technology executive and recognized global leader in AI and data science who has worked with 98 of the Fortune 100 companies, leading teams across nine countries. With 8+ years developing and teaching AI, Ed is now building Activ’s data backbone and AI capabilities to predict well performance and drive scalable growth.

Brooklyn Ravenscroft

OFFICE MANAGER & EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT 

A University of Oklahoma graduate who currently supports Activ Energy’s executive leadership through office operations and high-level coordination. Brooklyn helps keep priorities organized and day-to-day processes running smoothly while ensuring consistency, efficiency, and attention to detail across responsibilities.
